I think it’s important to make something comforting for yourself every once in a while (at least once a week in my case). A meal that exists to make you feel like everything’s going to be ok. I can see the untethered excitement in my children when I make something that they actually want, and that’s the level of joy I want from comfort food. Pasta with peas, lardons, cream and lemon is one of my most beloved meals - especially when some chilli in some form is added.
